Bridges is a community outreach program of the Helena United Methodist Ministries, hosted by Covenant United Methodist Church in collaboration with AARP Montana. Bridges offers specialized educational programs and workshops that focus on challenges and opportunities of aging.

All programs are held at Covenant United Methodist Church, 2330 E Broadway, a fully accessible facility.

    Lunch ‘N Learn

    Exciting presentations are provided by community specialists on a variety of high interest topics for individualsover50andtheirfamilies. Lunch‘NLearn is held the first Wednesday of each m onth, no o n to 1:30 and includes a free lunch catered by Chili O’Brien’s. Lunchis complimentsofAARPofMontana.

    Participation is open to all, however registration is required for space and meal planning. Call AARP at 1- 877-926-8300 or CLICK HERE the Monday before this event for your reservation. We encourage participant contribution of $5 to offset the cost of the AARP sponsored catered lunch and a gift of perishable food for Helena Food share. Alyce Brutosky, Hostess.

    Gentle Ways is a weekly program engaging participants
    in yoga-like activities designed to promote strength and
    balance.TheclassisTuesdays,9:30–10:30 AM, is
    led by Charlotte Sanddal and Sandee Sept, both of whom
    arelongtimeyogastudents. Participantswork at their
    own pace with emphasis on gentle movements to
    maintain and enhance health. All ages and abilities are
    invited.

    My Destiny

    My Destiny is a seminar program that promotes estate planning to ensure a continued legacy of caring. Two hour evening programs are offered quarterly by Marsha Goetting PhD of Montana State University Extension Service. Her series of “Wildflower Reflections” combines her passion for Montana wildflowers with estate planning education.   These popular presentations are offered free of charge, with refreshbridge3ments provided by AARP Montana.  Registration required with AARP at 1-800-926-8300 for space and refreshments planning.  Fran Waddell, Chair and Hostess.

    Free limited individual counseling services by an experienced estate planner are also offered to those participating in the seminars.  Though fees are not charged, tax deductible donations to Bridges are encouraged.  Watch the Independent Record and Covenant UMC publications for program announcements.

    Cranium Cafe

    Cranium Cafe is a monthly workshop conducted on the third Wednesday at Covenant from 12-1 PM.  Led by Nanette Holmes, Life Enrichment Director of Touchmark, this workshop provides skills and practice for improving memory. Participants are e
    ncouraged to bring “brown bag” lunches.  Beverages are provided.  There is no registration requirement or cost for participation.  Pat McNicol, Hostess.
